Message From Mayor Gordon Reynolds
Welcome to a great community!
Bow Island is a friendly, vibrant, diverse and entrepreneurial community. Our small town atmosphere and pace help make this a great place to raise a family and includes many of the necessities of a great lifestyle. We enjoy affordable housing, quality healthcare & educational opportunities, safe neighbourhoods and a variety of recreational activities.
Our diversity is reflected not only on our friendly citizens but in our business sector as well. The entrepreneurial flame was lit here in 1908 with the first major discovery of natural gas in Alberta and has continued to this day in agriculture, construction, and manufacturing. The progressive farmers and businessmen of Bow Island provide a range of employment opportunities for our growing population.
If you come for a visit, or are thinking of settling down here, you will find yourself welcome and have an opportunity to be part of a great community.
The Bow Island Council consists of a Mayor and seven Council members. Municipal Elections are held every three years.
Council is appointed as Town representatives to various boards and commissions that deal with Town issues. Council is the approving authority on the Town's capital and operational budget, agreements, bylaws, policies, procedures, finances and salaries.
Council meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of each month starting at 6:00 p.m. and are open to the public.
