Our Town Hall Located at 502 Centre Street, next to the Library, Town Hall is one of the main hubs for municipal services where payments for utilities, taxes, business licenses, development permits, cemeteries and development inquires are addressed. This office is also the location of Council Chambers where Council meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of each month starting at 6:00 p.m. and are open to the public. If youre new to Town and require a new utility and water connection or would like to sign up on our TIPP program for taxes, please come visit us at the Town Office so we can assist you. 100 years ago, people looking for new opportunities settled in this area and
began farming and ranching. In 1910 the Village of Bow Island was formed and
two years later incorporated as a Town. The introduction of irrigation in
the 50s brought more opportunity and more people to the sunniest area in
Canada. Bow Island has prospered as a result and remains an agricultural
community at heart, but has seen more commercial diversity in recent years.
We are blessed with good local health and seniors care. There are a variety of recreation opportunities and good schools in Bow Island. Our well established business sector provides access to essentials and other services. Bow Island has grown over the years to become a safe, friendly, diverse community and continues to be populated by hard working, progressive people. If you plan to come for a visit, or maybe even settle down here, you will find yourself welcome and have an opportunity to be part of a great community. Town Council ... The Bow Island Council consists of a Mayor and seven Council members. Municipal Elections are held every three years with the last election being held on October 18, 2010. Council is appointed as Town representatives to various boards and commissions that deal with Town issues. Council is the approving authority on the Town's capital and operational budget, agreements, bylaws, policies, procedures, finances and salaries.

The Finance department is responsible for the financial well being of our Town by providing reliable financial advice to Council, staff and the public. Revenues come from a variety of sources such as property taxes, utilities, franchise fees, interest and government grants. Other financial duties include accounts payable, assessments, property information, debt, investment and asset management, human resources, treasury functions and insurance. Town council approves the annual capital and operating budget for the municipality. During a Council Meeting on January 24, 2011 Council Approved the Town 2011 Operating Budget.
